Celebrating 30 years!
I studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1990-1994 - specialising in Ceramics.
I established my first Studio in 1995 in a goat house (shared it with the goat). I didn’t have a kiln of my own so I built a wood-fired Raku kiln using bricks from Wetheriggs Pottery as it was closing down.(knackered my sister’s car in the process)
I then spent 13 years in an old Woollen Mill near Sedbergh followed by 10 years in an old Carpet Factory in Kendal. I have recently relocated to Kirkbymoorside in North Yorkshire where I have converted my very own Victoria wash-house into my current studio.
Thank you.
I love porcelain for it’s sometimes unforgiving sensitivity to the makers hand, as a pure white canvas for the glaze and for its beautiful practicality. As my work develops over time, I hope it retains a freshness and simplicity.
I have recently been enjoying the use of brush marks and lines to add abstract impressions of scale and place within the landscape.
